Today, four Algerian clubs—MC Alger and CR Belouizdad in the CAF Champions League, and USM Alger and CS Constantine in the CAF Confederation Cup—will discover their group stage opponents during the draw taking place in Cairo, Egypt.
The draw for the CAF Confederation Cup groups will begin at 11:00 AM Algerian time, followed by the CAF Champions League group draw at 12:00 PM.
In the Champions League, MC Alger makes its return to the continental stage after a four-year absence, having successfully eliminated Tunisia’s US Monastir (0-1 away, 2-0 home). CR Belouizdad, participating for the fifth consecutive time, overcame Burkina Faso’s AS Douanes (0-1 away, 1-0 home, 4-3 on penalties) to secure their spot in the group stage.
In the CAF Confederation Cup, CS Constantine advanced by defeating Ghana’s Nsuatreman FC with a 2-0 victory at home and a 1-0 win away, thanks to a hat-trick from striker Zakaria Benchaâ. USM Alger, the reigning champions of the 2023 edition, bypassed the first preliminary round and qualified by overturning a 0-1 first-leg defeat to Tunisia’s Stade Tunisien, winning 2-0 in the return leg.
The first round of group stage matches for both competitions will take place on November 26-27, with the second round scheduled between December 6-8, 2024.
