
The Algerian school judo team won four bronze medals in the ongoing World School Gymnasiade in Bahrain, further boosting Algeria’s overall medal tally. This achievement was confirmed on Wednesday by the Algerian School Sports Federation.
The bronze medals were claimed by Rasha Riham Aydoun (-44 kg), Hanan Brahimi (-63 kg), Asmaa Rym Meloudi (+70 kg), and Abdelrahman Bougari (-81 kg). These results placed Algeria’s judo team in 13th position out of 22 countries competing in the judo category.
In addition to these achievements, national judo coach Abdelkader Khentach was awarded a Certificate of Excellence by the International School Sports Federation, recognizing his contributions to Algerian school judo.
As of this report, the Algerian team has amassed a total of 49 medals across multiple disciplines, with 14 gold, 12 silver, and 23 bronze. Algeria’s success extends beyond judo, with medals won in karate, taekwondo, para-athletics, athletics, and wrestling.
The World School Gymnasiade, which features athletes from 74 countries, began on October 22 and will conclude on Thursday, October 31.
