Jijel – The hall of the Omar Oussedik Cultural Center in Jijel was adorned Thursday with dozens of expressive artworks, marking the launch of the second National Visual Arts Salon. This event, themed around “humanity,” is part of celebrations commemorating the 70th anniversary of Algeria’s Liberation Revolution and will run until November 2.
According to Abdelmajid Kendouz, Director of the Cultural Center, the salon brings together nearly 70 visual artists from various Algerian provinces, each presenting works that reflect a deep human dimension. In addition to the exhibition, the organizing committee has planned various workshops, field trips, and other events, culminating in an awards ceremony for participating artists.
Kendouz highlighted that this salon serves as a unique opportunity for artists to network and exchange knowledge and experiences, especially through workshops scheduled alongside the main exhibition. One notable workshop, “Psychology and Colors in Visual Arts,” will be conducted by psychologist and artist Asmaa Mezhoud. Additionally, participants will have the chance to join a cultural excursion to the historic lighthouse of Ras El Afia.
