Algeria’s Commitment to Pan-African Collaboration on Education Reform
The National People’s Assembly of Algeria (المجلس الشعبي الوطني) is actively participating in the fourth ordinary session of the sixth term of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) taking place from November 4 to 16, 2024, in Midrand, South Africa. According to an official statement from the Assembly, this participation underscores Algeria’s commitment to addressing pressing issues of education across the African continent in a united parliamentary forum.
Representing Algeria at this critical gathering are three permanent members of the Pan-African Parliament: Bahija Al-Amali, Chair of the Committee on Transport, Industry, Communications, Energy, Science, and Technology; Mohamed Saqrass, a member of the Committee on Rules, Privileges, and Discipline; and Fateh Boutbeq, a standing member of the Pan-African Parliament. Each of these representatives will contribute expertise in key sectors essential to Africa’s socio-economic development.
The core theme of the session, “Building Resilient Education Systems to Enhance Success in Inclusive, Quality, and Relevant Education in Africa,” reflects the continent’s collective goal of creating adaptable and comprehensive education systems. This approach is seen as pivotal in overcoming educational challenges and ensuring that future generations receive quality education aligned with Africa’s evolving needs.
This session allows member states to share insights, propose policies, and coordinate on strategies that aim to uplift educational standards, making them accessible, adaptable, and inclusive. Algeria’s engagement at this level affirms its dedication to Pan-African collaboration, particularly in sectors essential to sustainable development.
