Algeria is set to welcome over 25,000 participants for the third edition of the African Startup Conference, with the event marking a significant milestone in the nation’s drive to become a continental hub for technology and innovation. On Tuesday, the Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-enterprises, Yacine Oualid, held a press conference detailing the conference’s preparations and objectives. The event is scheduled from December 5 to December 7, 2024, at the Abdelatif Rahal International Conference Center in Algiers, organized through the state accelerator “Algeria Venture.”
During the press conference, Minister Oualid highlighted Ethiopia’s presence as an official guest of honor, reflecting the event’s emphasis on regional cooperation. He underscored that the scale of this conference aligns with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s vision of positioning Algeria as a leading center for technology and startups across the African continent.
The African Startup Conference has become, as Oualid described, a “vital platform bringing together thousands of entrepreneurs, innovators, and investors from Africa and beyond.” With attendance from high-profile figures, international experts, and 45 African ministers specializing in innovation and startups, the conference promises to be the largest of its kind on the continent.
Among the key components of the conference is the African Venture Capital Summit, where investors and startup founders will engage in discussions on financing and potential partnerships. This summit represents an unparalleled opportunity for networking and collaboration between investors and emerging startups.
In addition, the event will feature a massive technology exhibition, with over 500 exhibitors showcasing cutting-edge innovations and digital solutions. This exhibition will place particular focus on startups and artificial intelligence, providing a unique opportunity for participants to explore recent advancements in these fields.
