Algeria’s Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, embarked on an official visit to the provinces of Tébessa and Souk Ahras this Saturday, accompanied by a high-level delegation from the energy and mining sectors.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Energy, Arkab presided over the inauguration of the phosphate mine located in the Belad El-Hadba area of Tébessa. Additionally, he launched preparatory works for the construction of a complex dedicated to the production of nitrogen and phosphate fertilizers in Oued El-Kebrit, Souk Ahras. These initiatives are part of the broader Integrated Phosphate Project aimed at enhancing Algeria’s mineral resources and industrial capabilities.
The minister’s delegation included CEOs from Sonatrach and Sonarem, the Chairwoman of the Geological Service Agency of Algeria, and the head of the National Agency for Mining Activities. Senior officials from the Ministry of Energy and Mines, as well as representatives from Sonatrach and Sonarem, also participated in this significant event.
This major step underscores Algeria’s strategic focus on bolstering its mining and energy sectors, aiming to leverage its rich phosphate reserves for economic growth and global competitiveness.
