Algerian Foreign Minister Receives Somali President’s Special Envoy

Algiers – On Thursday, Algerian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, hosted the Special Envoy of the Somali President, Mr. Tahir Mahmoud Gelle, at the Ministry headquarters, according to an official statement.

The statement highlighted that the meeting served as an opportunity to discuss the current status and future prospects of Algerian-Somali relations. The discussions also focused on developments in the regions to which both nations belong and preparations for the Federal Republic of Somalia’s assumption of a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council starting in January 2025.

This high-level diplomatic engagement underscores Algeria’s commitment to strengthening ties with Somalia and supporting its role in the international arena.
