The Algerian Council of the Nation participated today, Thursday, in a seminar organized by the Arab Women Organization in Cairo, Egypt. The event featured the presentation and discussion of a book titled “When Women Speak in Politics,” according to a statement from the legislative body.
The statement noted that, under the direction of the President of the Council of the Nation, Mr. Salah Goudjil, council member and member of the Coalition of Arab Women Parliamentarians to Combat Violence Against Women, Mrs. Nawara Sadia Jaafar, attended the seminar. The event was dedicated to unveiling and discussing the book published by the Arab Women Organization.
The book represents the first part of a research project aimed at documenting the political experiences of Arab women in leadership roles and decision-making positions. It seeks to serve as a source of inspiration and to raise awareness about the significant contributions and potential of women in the Arab world. The volume compiles the stories of contemporary Arab women who have successfully navigated the political arena, overcoming numerous challenges along the way.
Algeria’s representation in the book is highlighted through the biography of Mrs. Nawara Sadia Jaafar. As a distinguished member of the Council of the Nation and the Coalition of Arab Women Parliamentarians to Combat Violence Against Women, she embodies the achievements of Algerian women in politics. The book acknowledges her impactful roles in leadership, politics, media, party activities, and parliamentary work.
