Algiers – The Governor of Algiers, Mohamed Abdenour Rabhi, chaired a working meeting on Saturday, February 1, 2025, to review ongoing road infrastructure projects aimed at alleviating traffic congestion in the capital. The meeting, attended by the Secretary-General of the province, relevant executive directors, public institution officials, and provincial staff, focused on accelerating the completion of key roadworks, according to a statement from the provincial authorities.

Key Road Projects Underway
During the meeting, the Director of Public Works presented an overview of major road projects currently in progress. These include:

  • National Road No. 38: Connecting Constantine Bridge to El Harrach.
  • Provincial Road No. 111: Linking the municipalities of Chéraga and Ain Benian.
  • Dualization of the Road in the Tourist Zone: Between Sidi Fredj and the Mazafran Tourist Complex.
  • Olympic Complex Link Road: Connecting the Mohamed Boudiaf Olympic Complex to the Second Ring Road via Draria and El Achour.
  • Hammisi Road in Zéralda.
  • National Road No. 36.
  • Second Phase of the Jenan Safari Project: From National Road No. 01 in Bir Khadem to Sahoula.
  • Provincial Road No. 111: Linking Baba Hassan to Sahoula (Southern Entrance).

The presentation also highlighted projects that have yet to commence, which are funded by both the state and provincial budgets.

Governor’s Directives to Accelerate Progress
Following the presentation, Governor Rabhi issued a series of instructions aimed at expediting the completion of these projects. He emphasized the need to:

  • Work in three shifts (24/7) to speed up construction.
  • Mobilize all necessary resources to ensure timely delivery.
  • Remove any obstacles delaying the implementation of pending road projects.

The governor also stressed the importance of reducing project timelines, particularly for large-scale initiatives that will significantly improve traffic flow and enhance the daily lives of citizens.

The meeting underscored the provincial government’s commitment to addressing traffic congestion in Algiers through strategic infrastructure development. By accelerating the completion of these projects, authorities aim to ensure smoother mobility and a better quality of life for residents.
