Cairo – The Arab League affirmed today, Thursday, that recent statements from an Israeli official regarding what was termed the “voluntary evacuation” of residents from the Gaza Strip clearly reveal the nature and objectives of the Zionist plan. The League emphasized that the Palestinian people “will not allow a repeat of the catastrophe under claims of voluntary or forced displacement.”
Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit highlighted during a meeting with Palestinian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed Mustafa the “Arab consensus in rejecting any violation of the constants of the Palestinian cause, especially the right of the Palestinian people to remain on their land and their right to self-determination.” This comes amid threats facing the Palestinian cause, particularly the internationally and regionally rejected scenario of forced displacement.
Aboul Gheit stated that “the priority at this stage is to solidify the ceasefire, facilitate the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid, and assist the population in gradually restoring normal life in order to foil the (Zionist entity’s) plan to make the Gaza Strip uninhabitable.”
