Algiers – The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of African Affairs, Ms. Selma Bkhita Mansouri, participated in the high-level meeting of the African Leaders Initiative, Infrastructure Pioneers, which was held virtually under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of South Africa, Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Diaspora, and African Affairs.
In addition to Algeria, 12 other African countries participated in this meeting: South Africa, Nigeria, Benin, Congo, Egypt, Rwanda, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Namibia, Kenya, Sudan, and Uganda.
On this occasion, Ms. Mansouri reiterated Algeria’s commitment, under the leadership of President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to supporting this initiative, which falls within the efforts of NEPAD (New Partnership for Africa’s Development) aimed at enhancing African economic integration through the development of major infrastructure projects.
She also emphasized Algeria’s determination to accelerate the completion of two strategic projects: the Trans-Saharan Highway and the backbone fiber-optic link, which are considered key pillars for connecting the continent, promoting investment, and fostering sustainable development, particularly in the Sahel region. This reflects Algeria’s leading role in supporting African integration.
