The Palestinian national football team arrived in Algeria on Monday morning to prepare for two friendly matches against the Algerian local team, scheduled for October 9 and 13 in Annaba. These matches serve as preparations for the FIFA Arab Cup 2025, set to take place in Qatar from December 1 to 18.
The Algerian team, coached by Majid Bougherra, began a closed training camp in Annaba on Monday, which will continue until October 14, 2025. The first friendly match is set for October 9 at 8:30 PM at the 19 May 1956 Stadium in Annaba, with the second match scheduled for October 13 at 6:00 PM in the same venue.
In the tournament draw, Algeria, the winner of the first edition of the FIFA Arab Cup, was placed in Group D alongside Iraq and the winners of the playoff matches between Bahrain and Djibouti, and Lebanon and Sudan. The Palestinian team will face Libya in a playoff match in Doha in November.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stages, including quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final.
This friendly series not only reinforces sporting ties in the region but also reflects Algeria’s solidarity with Palestine, emphasizing the Algerian regime’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause amidst regional challenges, including the ongoing opposition to Moroccan policies in Western Sahara .
