On Thursday, October 9, 2025, the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, visited the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense, according to an official statement from the ministry.
Upon arrival, he was received by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, General Saïd Chengriha. After listening to the national anthem and receiving military honors from formations across different branches of the People’s National Army, President Tebboune greeted key officials including the Secretary-General of the Ministry of National Defense, commanders of the forces and republican guard, director of the ministry’s office, acting commander of the national gendarmerie, commander of the First Military Region, the army’s general inspector, and heads of departments at the ministry and army staff.
The President then met with the army’s cadres and personnel, delivering a speech broadcast nationwide via remote communication technology to all unit commanders, the six military regions, major units, and higher military schools.
In his address, President Tebboune emphasized that the People’s National Army has become a prestigious school of patriotism and guardian of the nation’s territorial integrity. He praised the security stability as a conducive environment for investment and highlighted the critical role of the army and security institutions in combating drug trafficking, which threatens the social fabric of society, especially the youth.
Beforehand, General Saïd Chengriha welcomed the President and expressed gratitude for this significant visit. He also highlighted the strategic choices made by the President to establish a leading state, a developing economy, a strong army, and strengthen national unity as rational and wise policies. The General affirmed that countries relying on their internal strengths and self-reliance are best equipped to face external threats, stressing that the unity of the people with their leadership and institutions forms the cornerstone of national security and systemic state stability.
