Algiers, November 8, 2025 – The newly renovated Bab El Oued-Zghara teleferique (cable car) line in Algiers has officially reopened to the public. The Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, Said Saioud, inaugurated the service earlier today, marking the completion of a comprehensive overhaul of the three stations along the route.
According to a statement released by the ministry, this project aligns with a national strategy to modernize urban transport infrastructure. The focus is on innovative and environmentally conscious solutions that are well-suited to the challenging terrain of the capital city and contribute to alleviating traffic congestion.
During the inauguration ceremony, Minister Saioud praised the swift completion of the maintenance work, which spanned five months and covered over two kilometers of the teleferique’s route. He emphasized the mastery of the technology involved and the commitment to ensuring the highest safety standards and the long-term sustainability of the facility.
