Algerian Boxer Mohamed Abbas Secures Silver at Islamic Solidarity Games

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Algerian boxer Mohamed Abbas has guaranteed at least a silver medal for Algeria at the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games, currently underway in Riyadh. Abbas’s impressive performance has propelled him to the final of the boxing tournament.

Abbas secured his place in the final of the men’s 55kg category after a hard-fought victory over Turkish boxer Semih Gumus, winning by a score of 3-2. The win sends him through to the gold medal match, where he will compete for the top prize.

The sixth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games is being held in Riyadh from November 7th to 21st. The event brings together over 3,000 athletes from 57 nations, competing across 23 different sports. The Games aim to promote solidarity and sportsmanship among Islamic countries.
