Blida, Algeria – Residents in several municipalities within the Blida province are experiencing disruptions in their water supply, according to an announcement made today by the Blida branch of Algerian Water (ADE).
The affected areas include neighborhoods within the Bougara municipality, Hammam Melouane, the upper region of Ouled Slama, the ‘AADL Sidi Serhane’ neighborhoods in Bouinan, and various districts within Chebli.
ADE attributed the interruption to the emergency shutdown of the ‘Mactaa Lazreg’ water complex. This shutdown was necessitated by a significant increase in water turbidity, a direct consequence of recent heavy rainfall. The elevated turbidity has negatively impacted the quality of water supply to the aforementioned regions.
The water distribution network is expected to experience fluctuations starting today. ADE urges citizens in the affected areas to take necessary precautions and conserve water until normal service is restored. The water authority has not yet provided a specific timeline for the resumption of regular water services.
DZWatch will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
