Gaza – The World Health Organization (WHO) has documented the deaths of 421 individuals in the Gaza Strip due to malnutrition this year, according to reports received by DZWatch. Among the deceased are 113 children, highlighting a critical escalation of the humanitarian crisis in the region.
The WHO stated that these figures reflect an unprecedented deterioration in public health, directly linked to severe food shortages and inadequate medical care. Children are disproportionately affected by the ongoing restrictions on humanitarian aid and the overall impact of the conflict.
“The situation is dire,” a source within the WHO stated. “Immediate and sustained intervention is crucial to prevent further loss of life, particularly among the most vulnerable populations.”
The organization is urgently appealing to the international community to ensure the immediate and unhindered delivery of food and essential medical supplies to the affected population in Gaza. Concerns are mounting that the current conditions will inevitably lead to a significant increase in fatalities, especially among children and the elderly.
Since October 7, 2023, Gaza has been subject to intense conflict, resulting in widespread devastation, displacement, and a severe humanitarian crisis. The situation has been further exacerbated by restrictions on the entry of aid, leading to critical shortages of food, water, and medical supplies. The reports indicate that the ongoing challenges are severely impacting the health and well-being of the civilian population, with malnutrition reaching alarming levels.
The international community continues to monitor the situation closely, with growing calls for a ceasefire and increased humanitarian access to alleviate the suffering of the people of Gaza.
