The Algerian Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals, Mr. Lotfi Boujemaa, is participating in the proceedings of the 75th meeting of the Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice in Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt. Minister Boujemaa is attending in his capacity as Vice-President of the Executive Bureau.
The meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the headquarters of the League of Arab States, will be followed by the 41st session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. This session will address a number of important legal issues on the agenda.
The session includes fourteen items, encompassing the study and review of a range of Arab agreements, such as the Arab Convention for the Suppression of Terrorism, the Arab Convention against Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism, and the Arab Convention on Regulating the Status of Refugees in Arab Countries.
During the meetings, the draft Arab Convention on the Protection of Personal Data will also be presented. This proposal was put forward by Algeria, reflecting its commitment to supporting Arab cooperation initiatives in the legal and technical fields.
The Council is also expected to discuss the harmonization of Arab legislation, through the consideration of model laws related to: the Arab Model Law on Preventing Hate Speech, the Unified Arab Law on Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, the Arab Model Law on the Protection and Assistance of Displaced Persons in Arab Countries, and the Arab Model Law on the Protection of Children from Recruitment in Armed Conflicts – a project proposed by Algeria.
This session is part of the annual meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice, aimed at discussing common legal and judicial issues, activating mechanisms for joint Arab action in the legal and judicial fields, and exchanging experiences between Arab countries.
The session is scheduled to endorse the future work programs of both the Technical Secretariat of the Council and the Arab Center for Legal and Judicial Research, reflecting the commitment of Arab countries to strengthen joint legal and legislative cooperation.
