Beirut – Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has reaffirmed his government’s dedication to pursuing reforms and solidifying state sovereignty across all Lebanese territories. This commitment was highlighted during a meeting in Beirut on Monday with a delegation from the U.S. Treasury Department and the National Security Council, led by Sebastian Gorka.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Salam emphasized the government’s resolve to “complete the reform process, rebuild state institutions, and solidify its sovereignty over all Lebanese territories.”
According to the Lebanese National News Agency, discussions centered on the deployment of the Lebanese Army in the south and other regions to bolster stability and reinforce state authority. The talks also addressed “strengthening state authority in maritime ports.”
The meeting further covered governmental efforts to combat money laundering by enhancing transparency and implementing regulatory laws in the financial sector. This aims to restore confidence and ensure adherence to international standards. The Prime Minister’s office indicated progress has been made in controlling borders and regulating the movement of people and goods.
