A patrol of Israeli forces reportedly infiltrated the Lebanese border town of Aytrun earlier today, detonating explosives in three residential buildings. The incident, according to Lebanese security sources, occurred in the southeastern sector of the town and marks yet another violation of Lebanese sovereignty.
The Israeli military has confirmed conducting operations within Southern Lebanon overnight, stating that several structures were targeted due to their alleged use for “terrorist infrastructure.” These claims are currently under investigation.
The southern and eastern regions of Lebanon have experienced a surge in Israeli aerial activity. Yesterday witnessed a series of airstrikes conducted by Israeli warplanes and drones targeting mountainous areas. This escalation represents one of the most significant since the ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024.
Reports indicate that Israeli aircraft struck areas near Al-Jarmaq, Al-Rayhan, Al-Jabour, Jabal al-Rafie, Al-Qatrani, Barghaz, and Al-Mahmoudiya in Southern Lebanon. Further airstrikes targeted the outskirts of Al-Nabi Sheet, the Al-Shaara area near Janta, and an open mountainous zone near the Lebanese-Syrian border in the Bekaa Valley.
Additionally, a drone strike targeted a pickup truck in the city of Hermel in eastern Lebanon. While no casualties were reported in that incident, drone activity has increased over villages northeast of Tyre, with an open area in the Al-Dahour region also targeted.
The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health reported on Monday that one person was killed in an Israeli strike targeting a vehicle on the coastal road between Al-Sarafand and Al-Bisariya, south of Sidon. A Lebanese security source stated the vehicle was hit with three missiles fired from a drone.
These developments unfold amidst ongoing accusations of ceasefire violations by Israeli forces since the November 27, 2024 agreement. Allegedly, the Israeli military continues land clearing and demolition operations, along with near-daily airstrikes across Southern Lebanon, while allegedly maintaining a presence in five locations within Lebanese territory.
