An individual described as a terrorist surrendered to military authorities in In Guezzam, according to a statement released by the Algerian Army on Wednesday. The surrender occurred within the Sixth Military Region. The individual, identified as T. Sid Ahmed, also known as Mohamed, handed over a semi-automatic Simonov rifle, ammunition, and other supplies.
In a separate series of operations conducted nationwide between November 5th and 11th, 2025, the Algerian Army detained eight individuals suspected of providing support to terrorist groups. These operations, according to the Army’s statement, reflect the high level of professionalism, vigilance, and constant readiness of the Algerian Armed Forces across the country.
These actions are part of ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and organized crime in all its forms. The Army emphasized its commitment to maintaining security and stability throughout Algeria.
Furthermore, in a crackdown on organized crime, particularly drug trafficking, joint detachments of the Algerian Army, in coordination with various security services, arrested 61 drug traffickers. They also thwarted attempts to smuggle 344 kilograms of processed cannabis across the border with Morocco. Authorities seized two kilograms of cocaine and over 412,000 psychotropic tablets.
In Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Guezzam, and Illizi, Army detachments apprehended 664 individuals and seized 20 vehicles, 319 generators, and 171 jackhammers. Quantities of raw gold mixture, stones, and equipment used in illegal gold mining operations were also confiscated.
In related operations, 20 more individuals were arrested, and authorities seized a submachine gun, six hunting rifles, and over 71,000 liters of fuel. Ten tons of food intended for smuggling and speculation were also seized during these various operations.
The Coast Guard also reported preventing illegal emigration attempts off the national coast and rescuing 165 individuals.
