Algiers, November 12, 2025 – Significant road closures are anticipated in Algiers as the city prepares to host the 2025 Algiers International Half Marathon. City officials have announced temporary and partial traffic restrictions along the 21-kilometer race route, expected to draw approximately 6,000 athletes.
According to a statement released by the Algiers Governorate on Wednesday, roads will be progressively reopened following the passage of runners along each segment of the designated course. Details of the route are available with accompanying visual aids.
Authorities are urging residents, particularly those living along the race route, to actively contribute to the success of this major sporting event. This includes understanding and cooperating with temporary traffic management measures and security personnel.
Specifically, residents are asked to refrain from parking vehicles along the race route from Thursday night through Friday. Citizens are also encouraged to assist in maintaining the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of the city during this prestigious international event.
The Algiers Governorate expressed its gratitude to the public for their understanding and cooperation. Officials issued a preemptive apology for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closures, emphasizing that roads will be reopened progressively immediately after the final runners have passed.
