Several key roads in Algiers will be temporarily closed this Friday, November 14th, due to the staging of the Algiers International Half Marathon. The announcement, made by the Wilaya of Algiers, details partial road closures impacting traffic flow throughout the day.
The closures are necessary to accommodate the 21-kilometer race route, which will host approximately 6,000 runners from Algeria and abroad. Authorities will progressively reopen roads immediately following the passage of runners along each segment of the course.
The Wilaya urges residents, particularly those residing along the marathon route, to cooperate with organizers and contribute to the success of this international sporting event. This includes understanding the temporary road closures and refraining from parking vehicles along the racecourse from Thursday night through Friday.
Citizens are also asked to help maintain the cleanliness and beauty of the capital during the event.
The Wilaya of Algiers expressed its gratitude to the public for their understanding and cooperation. Officials issued an advance apology for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closures, emphasizing that roads will be reopened gradually as soon as the last runners have passed. Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and seek alternative routes where possible during the affected hours.
Details of specific road closures and alternative routes are available from local authorities. DZWatch will continue to provide updates as the event unfolds.
