Massive Drug Bust: Hundreds Arrested in Nationwide Crackdown

The Algerian People’s National Army (ANP) has released details of its operations conducted between November 5th and 11th, 2025, highlighting significant successes in combating terrorism, organized crime, and illegal immigration across the country.

In the fight against terrorism, a terrorist identified as T. Sid Ahmed, known as “Mohamed,” surrendered to military authorities in In Guezzam, Sixth Military Region. He handed over a Simonov semi-automatic rifle, ammunition, and other equipment. Furthermore, eight individuals providing support to terrorist groups were apprehended in separate operations nationwide.

Efforts to combat organized crime yielded substantial results. ANP forces arrested 61 drug traffickers and thwarted attempts to smuggle 344 kilograms of treated cannabis across the border with Morocco. Authorities also seized two kilograms of cocaine and a staggering 412,013 psychotropic tablets. In addition, 664 individuals were arrested, and 20 vehicles, 319 generators, and 171 jackhammers were confiscated, along with quantities of raw gold mixture, stones, and equipment used in illegal gold mining operations.

Twenty more individuals were apprehended, and a submachine gun and two hunting rifles were seized, along with 71,645 liters of fuel and 10 tons of food intended for smuggling and speculation, during various operations.

Regarding the fight against illegal immigration, coast guard units successfully foiled numerous illegal immigration attempts along the national coastline. They rescued 165 individuals aboard makeshift vessels. Across the country, 380 illegal immigrants of various nationalities were apprehended.

These operations demonstrate the ANP’s unwavering commitment to maintaining national security and stability, protecting borders, and combating criminal activities in all their forms. The army remains vigilant in its mission to safeguard Algeria and its citizens.
