The Executive Council of Algiers, presided over by Governor Mohamed Abdelnour Rabhi, convened Wednesday evening to address several priority files and programs aimed at enhancing public services and bolstering local development.
Discussions centered on preparations for the 2026 summer season. The council explored various arrangements to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for visitors, with a particular focus on securing essential services.
The council also reviewed the water distribution program across the capital. The Governor instructed officials to improve public service by actively addressing and minimizing leaks. He noted improvements in water distribution but stressed the need for intensified efforts to guarantee service continuity and expedite leak repairs.
Regarding preparations for the upcoming Ramadan in 1447 AH (2026), an integrated plan was presented. This includes ensuring adequate supplies of essential goods in the markets, preparing mosques both inside and out, establishing a public transport schedule, guaranteeing nighttime business hours for traders, finalizing lists of beneficiaries for solidarity grants and processing applications before the start of the holy month, and identifying locations for charity restaurants and markets.
On the topic of local development projects, Rabhi emphasized the urgency of completing projects funded by municipal development programs. He called for enhanced coordination between delegated governors and heads of municipal councils to accelerate progress and ensure the timely completion of planned operations. This, he stated, is crucial for improving the quality of life for citizens and fostering sustainable local development.
These discussions highlight the Algiers government’s commitment to improving services and infrastructure for residents and visitors alike. The focus on both short-term needs and long-term development signals a comprehensive approach to governance.
