Algerian Civil Protection Battles Tipaza Wildfires

Tipaza, Algeria – Algeria’s Civil Protection services are continuing their efforts to extinguish wildfires that broke out in several forests across the western municipalities of Tipaza province. The blazes began Thursday night and extended into Friday.

According to Lieutenant Nassim Bernaoui, Head of Information at the General Directorate of Civil Protection, no human casualties have been reported as a result of the fires. He confirmed that the firefighting operation has been ongoing since Thursday night.

Speaking to Algeria International, Lieutenant Bernaoui noted that weather conditions have complicated the efforts to contain and extinguish the flames. The Civil Protection is working diligently to control the spread of the fire and protect populated areas.
