Tipaza, Algeria – Over 400 civil defense personnel are engaged in a race against time to extinguish multiple forest fires raging across the Tipaza province, authorities announced Friday. A massive deployment of manpower and resources is underway to control the blazes.
According to the General Directorate of Civil Protection, the fire in the Douar Boukhlidja forest in the Errahate municipality remains active. Seventy-seven fire trucks, a ground crew, and a personnel transport bus have been deployed. Reinforcements, including three mobile units from Ain Defla, Boumerdas, and Relizane provinces, along with a BE200 firefighting aircraft, are providing critical support.
Firefighters are also battling a significant blaze in the Bouzouale forest in Cherchell. An operational command center, overseen by the Director-General of Civil Protection, has been established to ensure coordinated efforts between the various units on the ground.
In the commune of Muslimoun, efforts continue to extinguish a fire in the Amarcha forest. Two fire trucks are on scene, supported by units from Blida and Medea, as well as a BE2000 firefighting aircraft. Another fire broke out in the Choula forest in Beni Millek. A mobile unit from Chlef, consisting of four fire trucks, has been dispatched to intervene.
Efforts are also ongoing to extinguish a fire recorded in Douar El Ikhwa Mersli in the municipality of Muslimoun. Two fire trucks, supported by a unit from Blida, are working to contain the flames.
Colonel Kouas, the provincial director of civil protection, confirmed that 409 civil defense officers of various ranks and 97 fire trucks are involved in combating the fires in the western part of the province, particularly in Errahate, Beni Millek, Muslimoun, and Hadjret Ennous. The province has also received additional support from the national unit and the provinces of Relizane, Blida, and Ain Defla.
Firefighting teams are working tirelessly to contain the fires under challenging conditions, requiring high readiness and rapid response to minimize damage.
