Oran, Algeria – The inaugural WorldSkills Algeria competition is set to launch tomorrow in Oran, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s efforts to promote and elevate vocational skills. This first edition of the national skills competition reflects Algeria’s commitment to developing a highly skilled workforce ready to meet the challenges of the future.
Minister of Vocational Training and Education, Nesima Arhab, highlighted the importance of the event during a press conference held on the eve of the competition. She emphasized that WorldSkills Algeria 2025 is not merely a technical competition but a crucial step in modernizing the skills ecosystem and aligning it with the evolving needs of the Algerian economy.
Arhab stated that the event is the culmination of extensive institutional work, including updating training specializations, qualifying experts and trainers, and adopting international standard evaluation mechanisms to ensure training quality and youth competitiveness. The Minister also underscored the vital role of the media in promoting this strategic project and showcasing its value in the ongoing development of Algeria’s training system.
The competition has garnered significant national participation, with over 8,000 participants from across the country initially involved in local and regional competitions. From this pool, 550 top competitors, representing all 58 Algerian provinces, have qualified to compete in 44 different skills across six vocational areas.
Organizers anticipate approximately 60,000 visitors throughout the event, supported by 300 volunteers and a substantial number of technical and administrative committees. The opening ceremony will take place at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium, while the competitions themselves will be held at the Oran International Convention Center, which has been fully equipped to meet international standards. Preparations are complete, with workshops, judging areas, and safety plans all finalized, ensuring a smooth and successful event.
