Algeria and Ukraine Explore Enhanced Trade Cooperation

Algeria and Ukraine are exploring avenues to bolster bilateral trade relations, signaling a commitment to strengthening economic ties. Minister of Internal Trade and National Market Regulation, Amal Abdelatif, met with the Ukrainian Ambassador to Algeria, Oleksandr Voronin, at the ministry headquarters yesterday to discuss potential areas of collaboration.

According to sources, the meeting focused on the current state of trade cooperation between the two nations, identifying priority areas for development and addressing potential obstacles hindering progress. Both parties emphasized the critical role of economic cooperation as a reliable foundation for bilateral relations between Algeria and Ukraine.

While acknowledging the existing level of trade between the two countries as “positive,” both sides recognized that it falls short of its full potential. Discussions centered on activating cooperation between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of both nations, including the initiation of activities by a dedicated Business Council.

The prospect of a Free Trade Agreement between Algeria and Ukraine was also a key topic. Both parties expressed their belief that reducing barriers to bilateral trade would positively impact the economic landscape of both countries. “Reducing trade barriers will have a positive effect on the economic situation of both countries” a source confirmed.

Enhanced cooperation between the Chambers of Commerce and the potential for a Free Trade Agreement represent significant steps toward unlocking the full potential of trade relations between Algeria and Ukraine. These initiatives aim to foster a more robust and mutually beneficial economic partnership.
