Algeria Climbs to 35th in FIFA World Ranking

Algiers, October 17, 2025 – The Algerian national football team, “Les Verts” (The Greens), have ascended to 35th place in the latest FIFA world ranking, according to the official list released by the international football governing body today, Friday.

This rise reflects Algeria’s recent strong performances, most notably their successful qualification for the 2026 World Cup, marking their fifth appearance in the prestigious tournament. The team secured victories in their last two qualifying matches during October, defeating Somalia 3-0 and Uganda 2-1.

Within the African continent, the Algerian squad maintains its position as the fourth-highest ranked team. This consistent performance underscores the nation’s growing influence in African football.

Looking ahead, the team, under the guidance of coach Vladimir Petkovic, is scheduled to participate in two friendly matches in November. One potential match is against Saudi Arabia in Jeddah. These matches are crucial preparation for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025, which will be held between December 21, 2025, and January 18, 2026.

At the top of the global rankings, Spain remains in the coveted first position, followed by Argentina and France. The next FIFA world ranking is scheduled for release on November 21.
