Justice Ministry Hosts Cryptocurrency Workshop for Judges, Investigators

The Ministry of Justice, in collaboration with the United States Embassy and the International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP), is holding an intensive workshop on cryptocurrency from November 16th to 20th. The aim of this initiative is to enhance the skills and expertise of judges and investigators in this rapidly evolving field.

The workshop’s opening ceremony will be overseen by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Justice, Mohamed Reggaz, alongside the United States Ambassador to Algeria, Elizabeth Moore Aubin, today, Sunday.

This training program is specifically designed for judges, judicial police officers, and financial analysts from the Financial Intelligence Processing Unit (CTRF) and the Bank of Algeria. The curriculum will cover various aspects of cryptocurrency, including its underlying technology, its use in financial crimes, and methods for investigation and prosecution.

This workshop builds upon a previous session held in July 2025, focusing on open-source intelligence, and forms part of a broader effort to bolster the capabilities of national personnel in addressing modern criminal cases and technology-related financial crimes. The Ministry of Justice recognizes the growing importance of digital currencies and the need for law enforcement and the judiciary to stay ahead of emerging trends in this space. This training is crucial for effectively combating financial crimes involving cryptocurrencies and ensuring the integrity of the financial system.

By providing comprehensive training and resources, the Ministry of Justice is committed to equipping its personnel with the tools necessary to investigate and prosecute cryptocurrency-related crimes effectively. This workshop represents a significant step in strengthening Algeria’s capacity to combat financial crime in the digital age.
