Tehran – Iran has rebuilt its nuclear capabilities following attacks earlier this year and is continuing its enrichment activities for peaceful purposes, according to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Speaking at an international law conference in Iran on Sunday, Araghchi stated that there is no undeclared nuclear enrichment occurring within the country.
“Our enrichment facilities were targeted last summer. We have since rebuilt our capabilities,” Araghchi said, alluding to reported Israeli and U.S. strikes. He emphasized that Iran views enrichment and the peaceful use of nuclear technology as an undeniable right and will continue to pursue it.
The Foreign Minister criticized Washington’s current approach, suggesting it does not indicate a genuine willingness to engage in fair negotiations that serve the mutual interests of both countries. He further asserted that Iran has learned from recent conflicts and has significantly strengthened its defenses.
“Any hostile action against Iran will result in the defeat of the aggressor,” Araghchi warned.
In June, Israel reportedly conducted attacks within Iran, targeting military leaders. Simultaneously, the United States allegedly struck Iranian nuclear facilities. Former U.S. President Donald Trump had repeatedly claimed that Iran’s nuclear program was completely dismantled.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Eslami, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, commented on a draft resolution reportedly being prepared by the United States and the E3 (France, Britain, and Germany) for the upcoming meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors. Eslami characterized the resolution as a politically motivated attempt to exert pressure and a rehash of old accusations against Iran.
“The West continues to pursue the same failed policies with Tehran,” Eslami stated during a press conference.
Kazem Gharib Abadi, Deputy Foreign Minister, cautioned that the passage of a resolution against Iran at the IAEA meeting would force Tehran to reconsider its cooperation regarding nuclear non-proliferation.
The Iranian official added that European countries, through their actions, including the reimposition of sanctions, are excluding themselves from dialogue with Iran. The E3 triggered the “snapback mechanism” in late September, citing Iran’s alleged non-compliance with the nuclear deal.
