Thunderstorms Expected Across Multiple Algerian Provinces

Algiers, November 18, 2025 – Several provinces across Algeria are bracing for thunderstorms, according to the National Meteorology Office. A weather alert has been issued, warning residents of potentially heavy rainfall in the coming hours.

The alert specifies that provinces including Tlemcen, Ain Temouchent, Oran, and Mostaganem can expect rainfall amounts reaching up to 40 millimeters locally. These conditions are anticipated to persist from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM today.

Furthermore, the National Meteorology Office forecasts significant thunderstorm activity in the provinces of Naama, El Bayadh, Bechar, and Beni Abbes. These storms are expected to develop starting at 9:00 AM and continue until 6:00 PM.

A separate weather warning indicates that the provinces of Medea, Tissemsilt, Relizane, Mascara, Tiaret, Saida, Sidi Bel Abbes, El Menia, and Ouargla should prepare for thunderstorms beginning at 3:00 PM, lasting until approximately 9:00 PM this evening. Residents in these areas should be prepared for potential disruptions due to the inclement weather.

The eastern and southern regions are also under alert. The provinces of Ghardaia, Touggourt, El Oued, Tebessa, and Khenchela are forecast to experience considerable thunderstorm activity from midday today through dawn tomorrow. Similar conditions are expected in the northeastern provinces of Bejaia, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, and El Tarf, with storms predicted to occur from midday until 9:00 PM this evening.
