Tissemsilt, Algeria – An international forum addressing the crucial topic of individual access to constitutional justice as a mechanism for safeguarding rights and freedoms commenced today in the wilaya of Tissemsilt.
The President of the Constitutional Court, Leila Aslaoui, delivered the opening address, paying tribute to the historical significance of Tissemsilt. She invoked the name of the renowned scholar Ahmed Ben Yahia al-Wansharisi, recognizing his significant contributions to the Maliki school of thought and the broader field of knowledge.
President Aslaoui emphasized that the selection of this forum’s theme reflects Algeria’s ongoing transformation towards consolidating the rule of law. She elaborated that empowering individuals to access constitutional justice provides a robust guarantee for the protection of their fundamental rights and ensures the supremacy of the Constitution in their daily lives.
She further stated that constitutional justice is a cornerstone of safeguarding rights and liberties, stressing that constitutional adjudication must be an open space for citizen awareness and legal literacy. The Constitution, she noted, represents a pact of trust between the state and society.
The President also highlighted that holding the forum at the University of Tissemsilt sends a clear message that deliberation on critical issues is not confined to the capital but encompasses all regions of Algeria. This underscores the commitment to inclusive governance and intellectual engagement across the nation.
This event is expected to foster dialogue and collaboration among legal experts, academics, and policymakers, contributing to the advancement of constitutional justice and the protection of individual rights in Algeria and beyond.
