Algeria’s Tripartite Mechanism Aims for Inclusive Libyan Solution

Algiers, November 18, 2025 – Algeria’s initiative to foster a political resolution in Libya has been actively pursuing an inclusive approach, ensuring the participation of all relevant parties, according to a statement released today.

Ahmed Attaf, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, emphasized the commitment of the tripartite mechanism, recently hosted by Algeria, to finding a comprehensive and lasting solution to the ongoing crisis in Libya. The mechanism prioritizes the involvement of all Libyan stakeholders in the political process.

DZWatch understands that the Algerian-led initiative seeks to bridge the divides between various factions within Libya, paving the way for a stable and unified government. The Algerian government has consistently maintained a neutral stance, positioning itself as a mediator capable of facilitating dialogue and consensus-building among the Libyan parties.

The tripartite mechanism underscores Algeria’s dedication to regional stability and its proactive role in resolving conflicts through peaceful means. By bringing together key Libyan actors, the initiative aims to create a platform for open communication and negotiation, ultimately leading to a Libyan-owned and Libyan-led solution.

While details of specific discussions within the tripartite mechanism remain confidential, sources suggest that topics of focus include power-sharing arrangements, security sector reform, and the organization of free and fair elections. The Algerian government hopes that these efforts will contribute to a more secure and prosperous future for Libya and the wider region.
