Palestinian Envoy Lauds Algeria’s Role in Halting Gaza Conflict

The Palestinian Ambassador to Algeria, Fayez Abu Aita, has commended Algeria’s diplomatic efforts at the United Nations Security Council, stating they significantly contributed to halting what he described as the ‘war of extermination’ against the Palestinian people. The ambassador emphasized Algeria’s crucial role in advocating for the Palestinian cause within the international forum.

In a statement released by the embassy, Ambassador Abu Aita praised recent remarks by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf. Attaf reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to coordinating directly with the State of Palestine through official Palestinian channels.

The ambassador highlighted Algeria’s unwavering support, describing it as a ‘spearhead’ in defending Palestinian rights at the UN Security Council. He noted that Algerian diplomacy positively influenced the positions of major world powers, including the United States, leading to increased pressure for a ceasefire in Gaza.

‘Algeria’s position on the Palestinian issue is firm, consistent, and unchanging,’ Ambassador Abu Aita stated. He acknowledged the sacrifices Algeria has made and the challenges it has faced due to its steadfast support for the Palestinian people. ‘The Palestinian people will always remember Algeria’s historical and honorable stances, from its leadership and government to its people,’ he added.

The Palestinian leadership, led by President Mahmoud Abbas, has consistently acknowledged and appreciated Algeria’s efforts at the Security Council, the ambassador noted. Algeria remains a trusted ally of the Palestinian people, firmly committed to supporting the national Arab path and confronting challenges and conspiracies targeting the Palestinian cause. He affirmed that Algeria has been, and will continue to be, a strong support and a secure fortress for the Palestinian people.
