Algeria and Vietnam Forge Stronger Ties with New Agreements

Algiers – Algeria and Vietnam have significantly strengthened their bilateral relationship, signing a series of agreements aimed at fostering deeper cooperation across various sectors. The signing ceremony, presided over by Algerian Prime Minister, Aymen Benabderrahmane, and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, followed the adoption of a strategic partnership declaration between the two nations.

The agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) cover key areas including housing, education, trade, financial cooperation, and higher education. These accords signal a commitment to expanding collaboration and driving mutual growth.

Key agreements signed include:

  • Minutes from the 13th session of the Algerian-Vietnamese Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation, scheduled for November 16-17, 2025.
  • An MoU between Algeria’s Ministry of Housing, Urban Planning, and the City, and Vietnam’s Ministry of Construction, focusing on cooperation in housing, urban planning, and urban development.
  • An addendum to the general protocol concerning debt treatment between Algeria and Vietnam.
  • A cooperation agreement between the governments of Algeria and Vietnam in the field of education.
  • An MoU between the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI) and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).
  • An MoU between the University of Science and Technology Houari Boumediene (USTHB) in Algeria and the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) in Vietnam.

Furthermore, a declaration of intent was formalized between Algeria’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion and Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade. This declaration pertains to cooperation in studying, evaluating, and encouraging discussions regarding a potential bilateral preferential trade agreement.

These agreements represent a significant step forward in solidifying the strategic partnership between Algeria and Vietnam, paving the way for enhanced collaboration and mutually beneficial outcomes in the years to come. The focus on economic diversification and knowledge sharing underscores the commitment of both nations to sustainable development and prosperity.
