Algiers – The Speaker of the People’s National Assembly of Algeria, Ibrahim Boughali, received the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chinh, on Thursday at the Assembly’s headquarters. Prime Minister Chinh is currently on an official visit to Algeria.
During the meeting, both parties explored avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation across various sectors, according to a statement released by the Assembly. The discussions provided an opportunity to review the historical bonds of friendship between Algeria and Vietnam and to discuss ways to enhance parliamentary cooperation and develop bilateral partnerships in various fields, particularly economic ones.
Boughali emphasized the importance of declaring a strategic partnership between the two countries, expressing a desire to elevate the level of bilateral cooperation in all areas. He also referenced the parliamentary cooperation protocol signed with the Vietnamese National Assembly in 2005, which reflects the spirit of friendship and the depth of the historical relations between the two nations. He further commended Vietnam’s supportive stance on just causes, particularly concerning Palestine and Western Sahara.
Boughali highlighted the necessity of supporting the strategic partnership between the two countries, noting that the significant economic reforms launched by the President of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, provide a favorable opportunity to enhance joint economic and parliamentary cooperation.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his deep appreciation for Algeria’s regional and international role, affirming his country’s commitment to developing strategic relations and strengthening joint parliamentary cooperation, while adhering to the strategic agreement between Algeria and Vietnam.
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on continuing coordination and exchanging visits between the two parliamentary bodies to support the fruitful cooperation between Algeria and Vietnam.
