President Tebboune: Housing Sector Key to Algeria’s Economic Growth

Constantine, Algeria – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune emphasized the critical role of the housing sector as a leading indicator of Algeria’s national economic development during a visit to Constantine on Thursday.

Following presentations on Constantine’s development initiatives, including plans to modernize the old city and various sector-specific projects, President Tebboune stated that the progress witnessed in Algeria’s housing sector positions it as a prominent gauge of the nation’s economic advancement.

“We are committed to continuous improvement and I personally ensure that governors receive all necessary support to effectively manage housing projects,” President Tebboune affirmed.

He further added, “Many predicted that the housing issue would lead to Algeria’s downfall, but the opposite has occurred. We are addressing this matter effectively, meeting the aspirations of our citizens.” The President also highlighted the near-complete reliance on Algerian expertise in the execution of housing projects, noting that project completion is now almost “one hundred percent Algerian.”

President Tebboune also stressed the importance of preserving Constantine’s rich architectural and cultural heritage while simultaneously pursuing development projects. After viewing a video presentation on the rehabilitation project for the old city and the restoration of historical buildings in Constantine, he expressed his gratitude to all those involved in revitalizing the region’s heritage. The President’s remarks underscore the government’s commitment to balanced development, prioritizing both modern infrastructure and the preservation of Algeria’s unique cultural identity.
