President Abdelmadjid Tebboune of Algeria has appointed Rachid Hachichi as the new Chief Executive Officer of Sonatrach, the country’s national oil and gas company. This decision was made official yesterday evening.
Rachid Hachichi takes over the role from Tewfik Hakkar, who served as the CEO for the past three years before his tenure came to an end. Hachichi previously held the position of CEO of Sonatrach briefly in 2019 and has prior experience as the Director of Operations and Production within the company.
This appointment comes as Algeria looks to continue its strategic management of its vital energy sector. Hachichi’s experience and familiarity with the company make him a valuable asset in leading Sonatrach forward in the coming years.
