Significant snowfall has led to the closure of several national roads in the Tizi Ouzou and Bouira provinces, according to the National Gendarmerie. The affected routes are experiencing considerable disruptions due to accumulated snow, impacting travel in the region.
In Tizi Ouzou, the following roads are currently closed:
- National Road 15, connecting Bouira and Tizi Ouzou, is blocked at the Tirourda pass in the municipality of Iferhounene.
- National Road 33 is impassable at the Assoul area within the municipality of Ait Boumahdi.
Similarly, in Bouira province, closures include:
- National Road 15, the Bouira-Tizi Ouzou link, is shut down specifically at the Kouel Tirourda area in the municipality of Aghbalou due to heavy snow accumulation.
- National Road 33, which also connects Bouira and Tizi Ouzou, is closed at Tikjda in the municipality of El Asnam.
The National Gendarmerie has stated that all other roads across the country remain open with normal traffic flow. However, they are urging drivers to exercise extreme caution while traveling, given the prevailing weather conditions. Motorists are advised to stay informed about road conditions and to adjust their travel plans accordingly.
