Heavy Snow and Rain Expected Across Several Algerian Provinces

Algiers, Algeria – Several provinces across Algeria are bracing for heavy snowfall and rainfall starting today, Monday, according to a special weather bulletin issued by the National Meteorological Office. The affected regions include both central and eastern highlands exceeding 900 meters in altitude.

The provinces expected to experience snowfall are: Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Jijel, Bouira, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Setif, Mila, Constantine, Guelma, Souk Ahras, Oum El Bouaghi, Batna, Khenchela, and Tebessa. These areas are under an “orange” alert level from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM today.

The meteorological office forecasts snow accumulations ranging from 10 to 15 centimeters in these regions. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions and avoid unnecessary travel during this period.

In addition to snowfall, numerous other provinces are anticipating significant rainfall. These include: Chlef, Tipaza, Blida, Algiers, Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Jijel, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Setif, Mila, Constantine, Guelma, Souk Ahras, Oum El Bouaghi, Batna, Biskra, Khenchela, Tebessa, Tiaret, Tissemsilt, Ain Defla, Medea, Djelfa, M’Sila, and Bouira.

Authorities are urging citizens in the affected areas to stay informed about weather updates and to exercise caution due to the potential for hazardous conditions. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
