Portugal Edges Brazil, Advances to U17 World Cup Final

Doha, Qatar – Portugal has secured its place in the final of the U17 World Cup, currently being held in Qatar, after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Brazil. The semi-final clash, held at the Aspire Academy grounds in Doha on Monday, concluded with a 6-5 win for the Portuguese side following a scoreless draw.

The tense encounter saw both teams battling fiercely for a breakthrough throughout the regulation time, but neither managed to find the back of the net. This deadlock forced the match into a nerve-wracking penalty shootout.

Brazil faltered, converting only four of their spot-kicks, with misses from Ruan Pablo and Angelo Candido proving costly. Portugal, despite Romario Cunha missing one of their penalties, managed to convert five, ultimately sealing their progression to the final.

Portugal will now face Austria in the final, scheduled for Thursday. Austria secured their place after a 2-0 victory over Italy, with both goals scored by Johannes Moser in the 57th and 90+2 minutes.
