Ataf, Ivorian Counterpart Discuss Bilateral Ties in Luanda

Luanda, Angola – Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Ataf, held bilateral discussions with his Ivorian counterpart, Kakou Houaja Léon Adom, on Tuesday. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 7th African Union-European Union Summit currently underway in Luanda, Angola.

According to a statement released by the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two ministers reviewed the state of bilateral relations between Algeria and Côte d’Ivoire. They agreed to initiate preparations for the upcoming session of the Algerian-Ivorian Joint Committee. This committee serves as a crucial platform for fostering cooperation and addressing shared interests between the two nations.

During their meeting, Minister Ataf and Minister Adom also exchanged views on the evolving situation in the Sahel region. Both ministers emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination between Algeria and Côte d’Ivoire, particularly given their concurrent membership in the African Union’s Peace and Security Council (PSC). Their presence on the PSC provides a valuable opportunity for both countries to contribute to regional stability and address security challenges in a collaborative manner.

The discussions highlight the commitment of both Algeria and Côte d’Ivoire to deepen their bilateral partnership and work together to promote peace and security on the African continent.
