Algerian Customs Launches Digital Tool for Vehicle Import Duties

The General Directorate of Customs has announced the launch of a new digital service designed to help citizens estimate customs duties and taxes related to vehicle imports. This initiative aims to enhance transparency and improve access to information regarding customs procedures.

According to a statement released by Algerian Customs, the new digital application is part of ongoing efforts to bring services closer to citizens. It allows individuals to estimate customs costs before initiating the import process, providing a clearer understanding of potential fees.

The statement emphasizes that the calculations provided by the application are for guidance purposes only and should not be considered binding on customs authorities. The final amount of customs duties will be determined exclusively by the relevant departments during the customs clearance process. This determination will be based on submitted supporting documents, the actual value of the vehicle, and in accordance with applicable laws, particularly Article 16 of the Customs Code.

The General Directorate of Customs encourages those interested in using this new service to access it through the dedicated link on the ALCES platform: https://alces.douane.gov.dz/pot/mp/vhcl/pot0200-q1.

This digital tool represents a significant step towards modernizing customs procedures and empowering citizens with the information they need to navigate the import process more effectively. It is expected to streamline the process and reduce uncertainty for individuals seeking to import vehicles into Algeria.
