Severe Weather Disrupts Several Algerian Provinces

Heavy rainfall and snowfall have caused disruptions across several Algerian provinces, prompting swift responses from Civil Protection units. While material damage has been reported, no casualties have been recorded.

In Tizi Ouzou, Civil Protection teams in the municipality of Boghni intervened to rescue three individuals trapped in a vehicle stranded in the snow in the Thala Guilef area. All occupants were safely extracted.

In Jijel, Civil Protection personnel in El Milia responded to flooding at a residential property in the Boulmenakher neighborhood, pumping out excess rainwater. Similar interventions were carried out near the airport entrance, close to the Martyrs’ Cemetery. A partial collapse of a concrete wall in front of an apartment building on Boutia Street was also reported, with no injuries.

In El Tarf, specialized units in Berihane addressed water accumulation inside a building in the 50-unit housing complex. The municipality of Lac des Oiseaux also saw Civil Protection teams pumping water from a home in the Ouled Abdallah area, as well as responding to rising water levels in front of the municipal headquarters.

Annaba province reported a partial ceiling collapse within an apartment in the municipality of Annaba. Civil Protection secured the area and conducted a structural safety assessment. No injuries were reported.
