Samuel Eto’o Re-elected as President of Cameroonian Football Federation

Yaoundé, Cameroon – Samuel Eto’o has been re-elected as the President of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) for a new four-year term. The election took place during the General Assembly held in Yaoundé this Saturday.

Eto’o secured an overwhelming majority, receiving 85 out of 87 votes, demonstrating continued strong support within the Federation. This resounding victory comes despite reported tensions between Eto’o and the Ministry of Sports during his first term.

The election process was reportedly fraught with tension. The Ministry of Sports had requested a suspension of the elections, alleging irregularities in the electoral process. However, the Electoral Commission and the General Assembly rejected this request, affirming that all legal requirements for proceeding with the vote had been met.

This rejection has reignited a long-standing debate between the Federation and certain official bodies within the country. The re-election of Eto’o marks a significant moment for Cameroonian football, and his leadership will be closely watched as he embarks on his second term. It remains to be seen how the relationship between FECAFOOT and the Ministry of Sports will evolve under his continued stewardship.

The focus now shifts to the future of Cameroonian football under Eto’o’s leadership, with expectations high for further development and success both on and off the field.
