Tipaza, Algeria – A devastating incident in Fouka, a municipality within the Tipaza province, has claimed the lives of three individuals due to carbon monoxide poisoning. The tragic event occurred on Saturday, highlighting the dangers of faulty heating appliances during the colder months.
According to the General Directorate of Civil Protection, emergency services were dispatched to the scene at approximately 3:30 PM following reports of a family suffering from severe poisoning. Upon arrival, first responders discovered that the victims had been exposed to lethal levels of carbon monoxide emanating from a water heater inside their home.
Despite the immediate efforts of the Civil Protection agents to administer aid, three victims, aged between 67 and 72, succumbed to the effects of the gas. The bodies have been transported to the morgue at the local hospital for further examination.
This unfortunate event serves as a somber reminder of the critical importance of adhering to safety regulations when using heating appliances and water heaters. The Civil Protection agency has reiterated its call to citizens to ensure proper ventilation within their homes to prevent such tragedies from occurring.
