Algerian FM Attaf Meets Tunisian Counterpart for Key Discussions

Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, received his Tunisian counterpart, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Nabil Ammar, on Sunday. The meeting took place in Algiers, coinciding with Algeria’s hosting of the international conference on the criminalization of colonialism in Africa and ahead of the 12th session of the Oran Process on Peace and Security in Africa.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, discussions centered on the “remarkable momentum” in cooperation between the two nations. Both ministers emphasized the need to further strengthen these ties, particularly with the upcoming Algerian-Tunisian Joint High Commission meeting scheduled to take place in the coming days.

The ministers also exchanged views and analysis on the issue of criminalizing colonialism in Africa, exploring its various dimensions. Furthermore, they acknowledged the contribution of the Oran Process on Peace and Security in Africa in developing a unified continental vision for advocating Africa’s priorities within the UN Security Council.

The meeting underscores the close and strategic relationship between Algeria and Tunisia, highlighting their shared commitment to addressing key issues facing the African continent.
