Algeria Explores Energy Cooperation with Saudi Arabia’s Midad Energy

Algiers – Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, received Sheikh Abdul Ilah bin Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Aiban, the Chairman and CEO of Midad Energy- North Africa, a Saudi Arabian company, in Algiers today. The meeting focused on exploring potential avenues for bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, according to a statement released by the Ministry.

The discussions centered on identifying opportunities for joint ventures and partnerships in various areas of the energy industry. Key topics included potential collaborations in hydrocarbon exploration and production, as well as opportunities to develop and implement renewable energy projects within Algeria. The meeting also touched upon the possibility of knowledge sharing and technical expertise exchange between Algerian and Saudi energy companies.

Minister Arkab emphasized Algeria’s commitment to fostering strong relationships with its partners in the region, particularly in the vital energy sector. He highlighted Algeria’s strategic location and its significant hydrocarbon resources as key factors that make it an attractive partner for international energy companies. He also reiterated the government’s commitment to creating a favorable investment climate that encourages foreign direct investment in the energy sector.

Sheikh Abdul Ilah Al-Aiban expressed Midad Energy’s interest in expanding its presence in North Africa and in partnering with Algeria to develop its energy resources. He acknowledged Algeria’s importance as a major energy player in the region and expressed confidence in the potential for mutually beneficial partnerships.
